The Halifax International Wine Fest

November 30, 2024, Pavilion 22, Halifax Seaport
The second annual Halifax International Wine Fest (HIWF) is set to be bigger and better this year as we once again welcome the wine world to Halifax for what is set to become Atlantic Canada’s largest consumer wine festival. A partnership between Bruce Mansour (Make It Happen, Seaport Beer Festival) and Mark DeWolf (Association de la Sommellerie Internationale, Saltwire, CAPS, DeWolf Food & Wine Experiences) this event has filled the void of a fall wine festival in Halifax. The event itself will consist of 2 Tasting Sessions featuring 250 wines from near and far, along with a variety of free food to sample, and will include a selection of premium non-alcoholic wines. In addition to the tasting events, a number of secondary events will be held in November, including interactive food and wine events and Master Classes. Come back soon for a full listing of events.

The Charities

Feed Nova Scotia first opened their doors in 1984 as the Metro Food Bank Society, with the mandate to provide emergency food relief within Metro Halifax. The volunteer staff served 12 member food banks and meal programs.

In 2002, at the request of their member agencies, Metro Food Bank Society became the umbrella organization for food banks across the province.

In 2005, Metro Food Bank Society was rebranded as Feed Nova Scotia. After over 30 years in operation, and now supporting 140 member agencies, they recognize the need is growing and they can’t feed their way out of it.

While Feed Nova Scotia continues to address food insecurity by supplying emergency food support, they are also working to find long-term solutions to hunger and poverty in Nova Scotia.
